What a great time we all had on our latest tour with Toby Keith and Aaron Pritchett! 6 shows in 7 nights…complete whirlwind. It was very special to finally get a chance to play GM Place in Vancouver, BC. Kicking off the tour with a hometown crowd and our families there was more than I could ever ask for. Our tour bus-John Wayne-held up strong with Greg ‘G-RIDE’ Schaber at the wheel. Helluva guy and excellent driver to boot. We put a lot of miles on that old Eagle. At times I felt like we were driving back to the future…

The tour ended at the Saddledome in Calgary, AB. WHAT a fun show. The place went crazy. I’m so happy that Marymae and Dan (my wife’s parents) made it out to the show. I love hanging out with them whenever I get the chance. Just checked the charts and Jessie Farrell‘s new single ‘I Guess’ is climbing fast. Fantastic news! Here’s hoping that it cracks the Top 10…

Life sometimes throws you a hardball.

More on that in a moment.

The last few weeks of August have been a stonking good time (that’s for all the Brits who read my blog). After playing a gig with Aaron Pritchett in Saskatchewan, sandwiched by gigs with Jessie Farrell in Havelock,  ON, and Ayer’s Cliff, QC (I love going to La Belle Province!), I’m now home for the next week until the CCMA’s in Winnipeg. And getting my teaching roster back in order takes a bit of time. But it’s time very well spent.

Now back to the ‘moment’:

About 2 months ago a student (and now good friend) of mine was involved in a very serious road bike accident. Road biking is his lifelong passion. I’m so glad that he’s going to be alright. It could’ve been a helluva lot worse. But he still can’t ride, can’t drive, and has to wear a heavy duty back brace 24/7. Not fun. I hadn’t been able to see him or his awesome son lately due to my heavy summer touring. Well, yesterday I did. So instead of lying around the house, watching TV, whatever injured people usually do, he focused on practicing the drums. I guess it took his mind of the injury and gave him some exercise at the same time. He has excelled SO fast. Couldn’t believe it. He really showed me what resilience and determination mean. Well done MP and your whole family.

“Let’s Get Rowdy” is a party song.

There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It’s one of those tunes that you can’t stop humming along to — more so after my 16-hour day on the set of the video shoot with Aaron Pritchett, Mitch Merrett, and Mike Sanyshyn. It was a long and rewarding day of filming. A standout was the bass player, who was amazing (Watch for him in the video!). It was very cool of Aaron to ask me to be in their new vid and the final product looks really, really good! Cheers to Colin Minihan…great director. Some familiar faces were also there, from the same wardrobe and make-up crew as Jessie Farrell’s “Let’s Talk About Love” video, to an old friend from high school (Hey Doug!). Seeing all the fans come out to be be extras on short notice was really inspiring. A pat on the back to all persons involved! Wait for it…………..LET’S GET ROWDY!!!
